The way I think of the word insecurity was something that makes you embarrassed or it's something you don't want people to see.
The dictionary app "WordWeb" defines insecurity as:
The anxiety you experience when you feel vulnerable and insecure
That really makes more sense to me so that's how I'm gonna use the word. :)
There are two things that make me feel insecure. The first is public speaking. It absolutely terrifies me.
This is the second and I'm not exactly sure what to call it. I guess it is being left out. I'm halfway used to it because of moving every few years. It's hardish cuz when I move somewhere new everyone there already knows everyone else and I'm the stranger. I'm the new girl. I'm the outsider.
Okay anyways.. Enough about all that crap. ;) I don't like telling about that kinda stuff cuz it's always a downer and I try to keep my attitude up. :)

Well said, I think everybody has insecurity about being left out I know it kinda a stinks to be leftout. But thank God that He never leaves use out or life would suck. Hahah

ReplyDeletePublic speaking isn't too bad. I used to be terrified about it, but it's much easier. Always talk about things you're really comfortable with... and people will be interested. Be yourself, and try to bring as much of your own personality and passion into the topic as possible. And in the worst case scenario, if you sense that the speech is bombing, end it short, and open with a Q&A(questions and answers) session. Visit Ted.com and watch people talk about things they're really excited about.

It's not so much the speaking that scares me. I think its a combination of worrying I'm gonna mess up and having all the attention on me. It's not so bad in front if my speech class cuz it's small but "Speech night" is coming up and all the parents come and we have to give speeches in front of them and in front of the advanced speech class. It's making me quite nervous. :/ hah.

ReplyDeleteIt's a hero speech. I did it earlier in the year.. It's pretty much the only one that went well all year.. Haha.. :P I'm just glad it's only about 5 minutes long hah..
